Since this was our third time visiting Thailand, we have pretty much been to every place in the City Capital of Bangkok. But there’s always something new to do in this urban metropolis. So we had learned that there was a super tall statue of Lord Buddha, named Wat Intharawihan or Wat In for short.
It took us a while to find it, and to so we went to the last line of the water taxi line going north, after the majesty’s bridge and walked from there to the temple where this is houses. It was a bit of a trek, but totally worth it. Access to the temple is by boat along the Chao Praya River close to Thanin Wisut Kasat. Road access is through local transport. As with any streets in Bangkok, you can get a bit lost as some of the are cul-de-sac and they don’t lead to nowhere.
Below are some of the captionings that we took while in the temple. It’s quite impressive as it stands over 105 feet high (~32 meters). It is a sight not to be missed! So if you have a half-day to spend, and you’ve been already to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, etc. then you should check this out. On the way back, hire a tuk tuk as that will save you a headache to try to find your way back.
